OWH VCMP, Day 1

It's time for another Virtual Card Making Party at Operation Write Home! Every few hours a new challenge will be posted so we can all play along. It's so much fun to see everyone's take on so many different challenges.

Challenge 1: Nancy has a sketch for us to use while making a winter/Christmas card. I chose to use some of the 2012 Bazzill Christmas paper I have left over and a piece of green cardstock from my stash. The Stampin' Up! sentiment is stamped with Brilliance Rocket Red, then the whole thing was embossed with the Cuttlebug Snowflakes folder. The green is mounted on some Darice red pearl. I thought it needed a bit more so I added some Studio 18 rhinestones.

Challenge 2: Diane has an interesting challenge...make a card using things that use O, W, and H. This one made me think but then I remembered some cards I've seen on Pinterest that would work perfectly. I found a piece of brown scrap paper and used an oval Nestability then embossed it with a Darice folder. The owl is punched from a Stampin' Up! punch as are both parts of the sentiment. I used more scraps for the black "hole" and the blue on the owl and sentiment. Since I love googly eyes, I chose to use them on this card. The sentiment is stamped in Fresh Ink Chocolate and popped with dimensional adhesive. O: owl and oval. W: wood grain background. H: happy birthday.

Challenge 3: This one is from Seongsook and it's to do a triple stamping card. These are fun and I enjoy using the different stamps and inks to pull it all together. I used Stampin' Up! Whisper White and stamps. The inks are Memento Cottage Ivy, Brilliance Pearlescent Crimson and Encore Metallic Silver. I had all the card stock in my stash. The sentiment is popped on dimensional adhesive.

Challenge 4: Annette is challenging us to make a love card using OWH sketch 29. The heart paper is Hamby Screen Prints while the rest is all basic card stock. The sentiment is by Little Yellow Bicycle and the brads are American Crafts. I popped the sentiment square for more texture.

Challenge 5: This was a fun new technique that I've been wanting try featuring masking tape. I used Tombow markers 636 and 725 then spritzed it with water before stamping on SU Whisper White. That piece is mounted on DeNami grey then on some purple from my stash. The sentiment is Paper Smooches. I had the brads in my embellishment stash. The sentiment is popped with dimensional adhesive.

Whew! What a fun day filled with card making and I got all five challenges finished. I hope you've been enjoying the VCMP today.

Freshly Made Sketches #99

I chose this sketch and made a few more Christmas cards with it. The snowflake paper is some I bought on clearance last year for the sole purpose of using it to make Christmas cards for this year. I'm so glad I remembered I had it on hand!

The DP didn't have a company name on it so I have no idea who makes it. The snowflakes and bright pink papers are basic card stock. The teal is Bazzill. I used Nestabilites to cut out the snowflakes and circles. The brads are from Making Memories. A Cuttlebug snowflake folder adds some texture to the card. And I just realized I didn't stamp anything on this card...wow lol.

I'm slowly starting to build up my supply of Christmas cards for this year. Do you find yourself doing the same thing through out the year? My mom and I go to the ocean one weekend at the beginning of December and make our Christmas cards for the year. She asked me what I was going to make this year since I already have so many made!

Cards 4 Kids!

This week the Midweek Throwdown is Cards 4 Kids. My first thought was to pull out some of my Doodle Pantry ant digis and use those. I ended up using three images and making six cards with each one. I used a DeNami sentiment and the Cuttlebug Tiny Bubbles embossing folder. The papers are all basic card stock and the sentiment is stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black. The image is popped with 3M adhesive. The sentiment is only 1/2 popped since I wanted it to lay flat on the part laying on the image.

 Thanks for taking a peek.

Winter Greetings

Today I have a winter/holiday card for you. I used the current Freshly Made Sketches sketch 100. I started with some blue card stock and embossed it with my Cuttlebug Snowflakes folder. I'm not sure who makes the brown/white DP that I mounted on black card stock. The snowflake is done with a Nestability. A bit more blue layered on black makes a perfect spot for the Stampendous sentiment. The brads (yes, I know they're crooked, dang it) are American Crafts. The snowflake is popped with several tiny pieces of 3M adhesive.

Enjoy your Sunday!

August Our Daily Bread Designs Challenge

This is my take on the August ODBD challenge. This month the challenge is to use brown, green and pink. I used Fresh Ink Chocolate, Memento Cottage Ivy and Distress Ink Spun Sugar inks. The brown and pink card stock is from my stash. The white is more of an ivory and is Darice pearl white. The Recollections bling is brown but picks up the colors of the card when you movie it. For the circles, I used SU Circle Circus and the sentiment is DeNami. I really like these colors together.

Enjoy your weekend!

"Hi" with triple stamping

I normally don't care for busy cards, but I like this one. I used SU! Circle Circus for the stamps. For the inks, I used Memento Grape Jelly and Lilac Posies, Brillance Pearlescent Jade and Pearlescent Chocolate, and VersaFine Onyx Black for the Paper Smooches sentiment. The sentiment circles are cut with Sizzix Circles die and are popped with 3M dimensional adhesive. The purple layers are purple pearl Bazzill. There is one thing I'd change, I'd stamp the "hi" on the card itself in a lighter color like grey, but alas, I didn't have that color with me at the time.

If you're interested in the dimensions for the layers, you can find them here.

Make sure to share your smile today.

Circles Galore!

I had so much fun making this card. I used SU! Circle Circus and Memento Lady Bug ink to make the background paper. It's mounted on black card stock as is the Stampendous sentiment which is stamped in VersaFine Onyx Black. The brads are American Crafts and the sentiment is popped with 3M dimensional adhesive.

Thanks for visiting.

You Rock

I started this card with the red and grey Fancy Pants Designs paper and worked my way from there. This paper seemed to scream to be a guy card, so that's where I took it. The dark grey is from DeNami and the light grey is basic card stock. I used the Diamond Plate Cuttlebug folder, then dragged my VersaFine Onyx Black ink pad over it. The sentiment is Paper Smooches and the brads are Recollections. The sentiment is popped with 3M dimensional adhesive.

This card fits perfectly with the OWH MWT and the extra little challenge of making a card a guy might send to a guy back home. Enjoy your day.

A Fuzzy Thank You

The inspiration from this card came from Pinterest and can be found here. The pink paper is Basic Grey and the rest is all basic card stock. The embossing folder is Hearts by Sizzix. The circles are done with Nestabilities. The sentiment is SU! as are the punches it's mounted on. I used two DeNami stamps for the fuzzy face and colored it with Copics. The bling is from my stash.

I hope you have a smiley kind of day.

OWH sketch 185 and MWT

Here's my take on sketch 185 and the fall theme for the MWT. The top is DeNami gold paper that I scored every 1/4". The bottom is leaf paper from Karen Foster Design. Ribbon from my stash adds a touch of elegance. More gold paper is used to layer the DeNami sentiment which is stamped on Darice red pearl. I will have a total of eight of these for my next OWH box. The whole thing is popped on 3M adhesive on a white card base.

What's your favorite season to make cards for?

OWH/Doodle Pantry Sketch 184

I was so excited to see Doodle Pantry was sponsoring this week's OWH sketch! I love the adorable images and the fact that so many of them are already colored. This one is "Caterpillar Hug." The image and layer is cut with circle Nestabilities and the embossing is done with a Cuttlebug embossing folder. For the sentiment, I used a Hero Arts stamp and the bling is from my stash. The papers are card stock, except for the pink which is Bazzill.

I'm going to have to print out some more of my Doodle Pantry images so I can use them more often!

This card is also for Day 217 "All Smiles" over at 365 Cards.

Miss you ALL the time

This card came into being because I was making a card that needed banners, but I didn't measure very well and they were too big for the sketch! I didn't want to throw them away, so I went back to using OWH sketch 142. The background DP is Bella Press while the rest of the paper is card stock. Nesties were used for the sentiment pieces; the sentiment itself is Hero Arts.

Do you have any fall back sketches you use for a kick start to your mojo?

Round the Clock

I was sitting in my LSS, contemplating what project to work on next, and decided on this basic layout that works so well with this double-sided piece of Pebbles "Let Freedom Ring" DP. I used a slate blue and dark blue Bazzill along with some white card stock. The sentiment is Hero Arts.

Have a fabulous day!

You're the sweetest!

I've had this Paper Pizazz cherry paper for awhile and finally pulled out my Fiskars set that has the cherries stamp in it. The sentiment is from the same set. The cherries are colored with Copics and mounted on some Darice pearl paper. I cut out both circles with Nesties. Some baker's twine adds some interest as do the popped up circles.

This card works for the OWH MWT Punches, Deconstructed Sketch 112 and Day 207 at 365 Cards.

Enjoy the rest of your week!

Miss You

A friend recently introduced me to Merry Monday sketches. This is the first one I've done... #56. The DP is Bella Press. I got it at the DeNami warehouse sale last weekend. It was $1.00 for a pack of 25! The rest of the papers are all card stock. The sentiment is Paper Smooches and the brads are from my stash.

What's the most recent craft steal you purchased?

Heartfelt Thanks

I've got OWH sketch 182 for you today. I'm not sure who makes the daisy paper and all the rest is card stock. For the sentiment, I used a stamp from Inkadinkado and a brad from my stash.

Make sure to share your smile today!

OWH sketch 183

I've had this bright paper for awhile now and decided this was a perfect sketch to use it on. This picture doesn't quite show how vibrant the colors really are. It's a piece of double-sided Cosmo Cricket. I used white, black and yellow card stock. The sentiment is Paper Smooches and the bling is from my stash.

Be sure to hug a person you love today!
